Himalaya Testimonials

Wonderland of Himalayas Fam Trip -"I am sure that families who will do this trip, like we did some time ago, will never forget it"- Helit Golani, helitgolani@yahoo.com

We received a mail from Helit Golani , a client who had done Wonderland of Himalayas family trip in addition to Tibet overland tour with us about one a half years back. This is what she has to say about the trip: "We did the same trip that you offer to families about one and half years ago. My children were at that time 10 and 8 years old. We arrived in Kathmandu, did some sightseeing in and out of the city (we also travelled for some days to Nagarkot and Bakhtapur) and then did your Tibet tour (fly-in, drive-out), including the Everest Base Camp. After we returned to Kathmandu, we travelled by bus - not to miss the wonderful views on the way - to Pokhara. We spent there some days (same as in your description) and then headed to the start of the Annapurna circuit - we did all the trek including what you suggested in your description and we had the feeling that we are in heaven. In total, it took us some 19 days - including 3 days of complete rest along the way. We returned to Pokhara and took a rafting tour on the Seti river. We insisted on a company that has a safety kayak even though it is only the Seti. This was a two day rafting experience - a wonderful one. From there we took a local bus - which is an experience by itself - to Chitwan park - our luggage waited for us (the rafting company sent it to the hotel we stayed at) and we spent 3 wonderful nights at the reserve (one night at the tower) some canoeing, elephant ride and bath, jungle walk and the thousand lake reserve. Our hotel was just at the river side so we enjoyed wonderful sunsets. We returned to Kathmandu and headed back home. We think that what you suggested to families is something that you cannot get anywhere else; pure nature, nature at its best with the addition of interesting culture and wonderful people. I am sure that families who will do this trip, like we did some time ago, will never forget it."

"Impeccable service in Kathmandu, even when we changed plans at the last minute. Our every need was accommodated. Similar service in Pokhara. Bharat, our trek guide, was very knowledgeable and friendly. We were looked after very well at each stop with great service. Even when I walked slowly I never felt rushed. The hotels we stayed in appeared to be the best choice in each town. Staff in hotels were friendly. We were happy with the itinerary and appreciated Yalamber's help. Overall a great service. We will recommend Explore Himalaya to others. Thank you for a great experience!""

Everest Base Camp Trek (EBC)

I just want to say on behalf of the four of us, what a great trip to Nepal we had all of the arrangements went really smoothly, all the organisation was spot on it was great to see Kathmandu, and we enjoyed seeing the temples with our guide and the main trek with Sudhan and his team was brilliant - though hard work of course!

Sudhan's organisation and leadership was really excellent - he had everything worked out with cooking, transport, timings, and motivation of his team. He had chosen them well, and they really respected him - impressive for his young age - I think probably because he got stuck in helping them when necessary, and his sense of humour also helped. He was always polite and patient with us, and his estimation of how much walking we could cope with was exactly right each day. His attention to detail was fantastic, and his English was really good which I think made a big difference. We mixed with some other groups during our three weeks and we could compare with him their sirdar and porters, and there was no doubt that ours was the most professional and the best leader.

So thank you for everything, and we hope you continue to use Sudhan and his team for future treks like ours - or move him up to the next management level!

thanks!!

"The meeting and handling and services of the supporting staff were very good. We had a very friendly and well-organized trek guide (Moule Tamang) who looked after us and the porters well. The camping services were very good but a lighter table would be good for the porters. Dhana was an excellent and friendly kitchen assistant and porter. The transportation was very good. Our itinerary was suitably flexible."

"I am 39 years old and I have been skydiving since I was 17. I trained to be a nurse but became a pilot. I have been working, competing, filming and doing stunts in skydiving. I have competed in different disciplines like flying on belly, flying making formations and flying with wings. I have been working as a director of aerial photography since 1988.This is my first visit to Nepal and my first trek too. This is also my first skydive from 29,500ft., my most exciting till now.

I think Nepal has a humble and rich environment and Everest is stunning I'll be coming back in May."

"I have been jumping from 12,000ft- 13,000ft from sea level mostly in Headcorn, UK by paying £25. I've jumped 365 times. It is amazing to be at 12,0000ft. and then fly to 29,500ft. to skydive. This is my first visit and trek to Nepal. This was a very special visit, though I would say a bit expensive and I am taking back excellent memories."

Lou is 60 years old while his son Scott is 40. Both did tandem jumps. Lou has done 38 jumps while Scott has done over 150 times. They are the only father and son duo to make tandem jumps from a height of 29,500ft.

"The feeling was out of this world when we skydived from the height of Everest!"

We are a family consisting of 2 adults and 2 children of 10 and 16 years.

The service of Explore Himalaya in Kathmandu and Pokhara and on the trek was excellent. The staff of Explore Himalaya was helpful and efficient. The standard of the teahouses on the trekking route chosen by the guide was, generally speaking, good. We were very happy with our trekking guide and porter: They were professional, skilled and very nice people, and we enjoyed being in their company. They were able to depart from the schedule and organise a trek back to Pokhara instead of the scheduled flight from Jomoson when the weather turned out to be too bad for flying in the mountains without long delays. Although we had to deal with some landslides on the route, we felt safe in their presence all the time."

The meeting and handling was very prompt and professional. Our trek guide, Lama Babu was very good. Would recommend him to friends in future. He was very patient and answered all our questions. Our itinerary was quite good, although our guide reversed it so that we went to Ulleri first. It was a good decision. But the description of the length of hiking was a bit short. Speaking on behalf of all three of us, I would have no hesitation recommending Tibet to anyone with a sense of adventure. We all found the balance of culture / spirituality / adventure very rewarding.
Additionally, we all found Lobsang and the driver extremely courteous, knowledgeable and entertaining - everything you want on a trip like this. I will be recommending Explore Himalaya to anyone who shows an interest in Tibet.

"Dear Suman,

It was an unexpected pleasure meeting you in Lhasa, I appreciated all your efforts to make this trip a great success and look forward to future travels with the professional team of Explore Himalaya.

Both the Nepalese crew with Nyima in charge and the Tibetan crew with Penba overseeing the various arrangements were excellent. There isn't one critical comment I could make on any level and the service was always Five Star. On top of the expert ground support the skies stayed clear the entire time and everyone stayed healthy with no real problems getting the group over the Drolma La.

Your complimentary dinner at the Du Ghood on the last evening was a very thoughtful gesture and much enjoyed by all, a finishing touch to an amazing journey. A million thanks for making our 2006 Tibet trip a memorable experience of a lifetime

"Dear Bimal and everyone at Explore Himalaya,

Just a brief "namaste" to say thank you for a truly exceptional trek in Mustang. I have only been home for a couple of months and already I am wishing to be back in Nepal. (Actually, I was longing for Nepal after only being home a couple of days!) Anyway, just wanted to tell how very much I enjoyed the trek you provided me, Sue, Irma, and Phurpu. We have so many great memories that will be with us forever. Every member of our trekking staff was terrific and worked very hard, and we especially appreciated Bharat's kind, gentle way and his willingness to always help us in whatever way he could.

I am actually thinking that I will try to arrange another trek to Mustang for my husband next year at about the same time (early June) .... I will be in touch with you again probably around January to set it up.

I hope all of you are well....I'm sure you're probably looking forward to the end of the monsoon in September! Again....thank you so much!

"I just came back from a 40 days long trek from Manaslu and Annapurna Area. When I planned my trek two months back a got alarming information about the the safety situation for trekkers in these areas, mainly for the Manaslu area, due to a suspected presence of Maoists. What we really found, was instead a calm and safe situation all along these treks. In Manaslu, was an hevy presence of Army man in Arughat and some sporadic patrolling up the Lapubesi village. Locals, who said that the alarming news dropped the tourists presence more than 50 percent this year, asked us why such an unnecessary alarmism could be spread, affecting their business in a very bad way. We found a very nice and behavior in everybody, both in Hotels, totally empty, and even in remote villages. n fact we found such alarmism absolutely unnecessary.

The same situation we found in Annapurna, were we where said that tourists dropped more than 70%,in fact most of the Hotels were already closed. What we understood is that the economy of these villages are very badly affected from we think is really a very big disinformation.

We talked of this with the very few trekkers we found in the way, and everybody have the same opinion, total disinformation, mainly from media side.

In Manaslu some parts of the trail are in a bad situation because of lack of maintenance due to the dramatic reduction of fee revenues, some MCAP officials said us. I am, since many years, a cartographer, following the development of the tourist trekking areas of Nepal, and I am very sad to see now such a kind of situation. Pls, inform correctly trekkers of the real things. Trekking in Nepal is still absolutely safe.

Best regards."

"I had a wonderful experience with Explore Himalaya and would highly recommend them. All the hotels they used getting to base camp were wonderful. The main guide for non-climbing who was with us in Tibet was incredible and totally went out of his way to make everything run smooth. And the climbing guides where great -- very accomplished and strong and good cooks too.

I did the full climb including LhakpaRi. I am actually a middle aged woman, with mountaineering experience, and didn't have any trouble with the climb up. I had eaten some beef jerky from my own stash the night before and wound up with some food poisoning from it and was totally weak on the way down -- it took me forever to get down, not up, and the climbing sherpa was more than patient. They Sherpas at base camp noticed how slow going it was for me - I had to stop and throw up every ten minutes, and they sent the yak herders up the bottom of the glacier with tea and soup and to help out. It would have been an extra hour or two without their help as sick as I was. But even in that condition, which was totally my fault, the climb was beautiful and very doable. I'd say to bring some warm gloves if you are doing LakpaRI. I had my regular mountaineering gloves that I had used on many high peaks, but the wind factor made it a bit colder and I had to borrow more gloves from the Sherpas, who can climb it with thin liners -- they are amazing. It is very beautiful up there and you'd find it quite an accomplishment.

So all in all I would very much recommend the trip -- the cultural aspect of visiting China/Tibet and then the accomplishment of the climb to either ABC or LhakpaRi are a great combination. Good accommodations in the cities, great food all around.

We were done and back in Kathmandu early so I took advantage of the rate at the Yak and Yeti hotel that Bimal can get you and it is pretty nice to treat yourself to a couple of days of that kind of luxury after the trip.

I recently heard for another couple, who I have never met, but who went to ABC in October of last year with Explore Himalaya. They had contacted to ask some questions and to send some documents with me for Bimal when I went over. They emailed me when they got back, and they too had a fantastic trip and were very happy that they went with Explore Himalaya On my next trip to Nepal, I would certainly choose them again.

Hope you go and Have Fun. Cheers, Sheilah."

"Thanks again for all your help with the Tibet tour. We did have a good time despite cutting the trip a little short. Your counterpart in Tibet/China is just superb! My compliments to you, your staff and the ones in Tibet.
Many thanks. I am leaving Kathmandu tomorrow, but will be sure to return sometime soon. Anyway, do take care, and thanks once again."

"Just returned from an excellent trek to Everest Base Camp. We had no problems neither on the trek nor in Kathmandu. In my opinion it’s safe to trek in Nepal at the moment. Of course you have to use your common sense as always when you travel abroad."
