Danish Climbers Scale Mera Peak (6654m)

 

We are happy to announce that the expedition to Mera peak that we organized for the Autumn 2007 Danish group has been a success. There were nine members in the team. The trek for the peak started from Lukla on 11th Oct. where the group camped at Pangkongma. On 12th the party trekked to Nashing Dingma . The next two days they continued wuth their trek and camped at Chalem kharka and Chunbu Kharka.15th Oct was a day of rest after the brisk trek. On 16th Oct the group reached Hinku Valley. On 17th the group reached Tagnag glacier. The group spent two days 18th and 17th Oct  in acclimatization. On 20th Oct the team made the ascent to Mera La (5410m) pass. From here, excellent views of the Kanchenjunga , Ama dablam , Lhhotse, Makalu and Everest are visible. The group camped at the pass. The next day 21st Oct the expedition party climbed up to the high camp. On the 22nd of Oct at around 9 a.m., six climbers made it to the summit of Mera Peak. They were (the names are in random order):
1. Hansen Flemming 2.Thorsen Jesper 3. Due Karsten 4.Andersen Lars Henrik 5.Pedersen Lotte Gam  6. Gonzales Camacho Juan Carlos. We could not confirm whether Karlson Torben had reached the summit.
The names of rest of the climbers are Vardar Ilhan and Hansen Tina Edel.
