Annapurna experience
6 days Trekking in the Annapurna Region, 2 days white-water rafting in Trishuli river, 3 days wildlife safari in Royal Chitwan National Park

Nepal is a country of great contrasts, from the hot lowlands of the Terai to the snowy peaks and glacial rivers of the Himalaya and is truly a paradise for the adventurous traveler. This trip combines a trek in the beautiful Annapurna region with rafting on the Trishuli river and a jungle safari at Chitwan, enabling you to fully appreciate all that Nepal has to offer.
The 6 day trek follows trails through fields, rice terraces and lush rhododendron forests, passing through charming villages along the way. The views of Machhapuchhare and the Annapurnas are superb throughout and from the stunning view point of Poon Hill, the Dhaulagiri range can also be seen. A big advantage of this trek is that we are able to enjoy spectacular mountain scenery without ascending to high altitudes.

Following this magnificent trek are two days of exhilarating rafting on the Trishuli River before heading to Royal Chitwan National Park for a jungle safari and the chance to see rhino, deer, elephants and perhaps even an elusive tiger.

Detail Itinerery

DAY 01 ARRIVAL IN KATHMANDU
Transfer to the hotel. After a good rest from the long flight, you may be keen to make a first exploration of Kathmandu. Its streets, bazaars, temples, shrines and Buddhist stupas are crowded with people of every creed, colour and race. Rickshaws, taxis and hooting motorists add to the din and create that special atmosphere that Kathmandu is so famous for.

DAY 02 IN KATHMANDU
Today there will be a half day sightseeing tour to some of the most interesting places in and around Kathmandu. We will visit the ancient city of Bhaktapur, the Hindu temple and cremation ghats at Pashupatinath as well as Bodhnath, an impressive Buddhist stupa.

DAY 03 FLY TO POKHARA & TREK TO TIKEDUNGHA [1525m]
Early this morning we take the spectacular 30 minute flight to Pokhara. After meeting our crew, we leave Pokhara by road, driving along the valley of the Modi Khola for about an hour. We then commence our trek, walking a short distance from the road to Birethanti, a busy village of lodges, shops and houses, before making a gradual ascent along the left bank of the Bhurungdi Khola. We then leave the river and follow a trail along the upper edge of terraced fields through Hille to Tikedungha. [walk approx 4 hours]

DAY 04 TREK TO GHOREPANI [2775m]
From Tikedungha, we cross a stream and then drop down to the suspension bridge over the Bhurungdi Khola. Now we begin a long, steep, seemingly endless climb up a stone staircase, eventually arriving at the village of Ulleri. Annapurna South is hidden by a ridge as we climb the path into a forest. Beyond Banthanti, there are magnificent oak and rhododendron forests and after crossing several streams we arrive at a clearing and the village of Nangathanti. Continuing through the forest for another hour brings us to Ghorepani. Ghorepani literally means "horse water" and it is a popular watering spot for the mule trains which ply this route from Pokhara to Jomsom and beyond.

Ten minutes walk beyond Ghorepani is a small pass and the village of Deorali. We'll stay here overnight and make the morning trip to Poon Hill for an outstanding panorama of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna Himal. [walk approx 4 hours]

DAY 05 TREK TO TADAPANI [2540m]
It is a must for those who stay at Ghorepani to make the walk up to the celebrated view point of Poon Hill [3195m], which overlooks the village. Dawn is the best time to go and we head up the well marked track by torchlight. The first light of dawn illuminates Dhaulagiri and Tukuche Peak with a surreal pink glow. Before us is an outstanding panorama of Himalayan peaks including Machhapuchhare and the Annapurna range and the entire Dhaulagiri range. We return to Ghorepani for breakfast before heading off along a forest trail to Tadapani. At Tadapani we are again treated to wonderful views of Annapurna South. [walk approx 4 hours]

DAY 06 TREK TO GHANDRUK [1940m]
After leaving Tadapani, we descend steeply through forests, crossing several sparkling mountain streams before reaching the fields above the large Gurung village of Ghandruk. Ghandruk is the headquarters of ACAP, Annapurna Conservation Area Project, and the information centre is definitely worth a visit. [walk approx 4 hours]

DAY 07 TREK TO LANDRUNG [1550m]
Today's destination, Landrung, can be seen directly across the valley. It's a long way down a stone staircase to the Modi Khola at the bottom of the valley and after crossing the river, we begin the ascent through rice terraces to Landrung. Along the way we savour the views of the mountains and the glaciers which flow from them. [walk approx 3 - 4 hours]

DAY 08 TREK TO PHEDI [1080m] THEN DRIVE TO POKHARA
From Landrung, we follow the trail through rhododendron forests teeming with bird life before climbing to a clearing on top of a hill where there are views of Annapurna South and Hiunchuli. We then drop down again through Pothana to Dhampus. At Dhampus, we enjoy the magnificent mountain scenery for the final time on our trek before descending to Phedi and our transport back to Pokhara. [walk approx 4 - 5 hours]

DAY 09 IN POKHARA
The entire day is free today to spend as you like. Hiring a boat on the lovely Phewa Tal is a relaxing way to while away a few hours and prepare yourself for the next part of the adventure.

DAY 10 RIVER RAFTING
This morning we drive to the rafting put-in point at Charaundi and spend the day rafting down the beautiful Trishuli River. Between rapids, there is time to admire the scenery and watch the langur monkeys which can often be seen playing on the riverbanks. We camp overnight by the river.

DAY 11 RAFTING & DRIVE TO ROYAL CHITWAN NATIONAL PARK
We continue rafting until lunch time and after lunch, we drive to Royal Chitwan National Park. The scenery changes dramatically as we travel from the middle hills to the flat expanse of the Terai. We stay overnight in the lodge.

DAY 12 ROYAL CHITWAN NATIONAL PARK
Today will be spent participating in various activities such as a jeep safari, jungle walk and elephant ride. Overnight in the lodge.

DAY 13 DRIVE TO KATHMANDU
This morning we spend at Chitwan for further jungle activities. After lunch, we drive back to Kathmandu.

DAY 14 IN KATHMANDU
Today is a free day in Kathmandu to do all that last minute shopping or perhaps revisit a favourite temple.

DAY 15 DEPARTURE
Transfer to the airport for the flight home.
