Tender Lives Lighted - Update on the Each One, Teach One Project

Recently I along with my family visited our ancestral home in Nuwakot. Our family home, a large and ancient building, which my grandfather built, had taken on a pleasing look after the renovation. Of course, the building has retained its old world charm but the modern amenities which has been fitted with, made our stay comfortable and easy. In fact, I am ready to welcome any guest or visitor who wish to visit Nuwakot to stay at my ancestral home.
In Nuwakot, I got the chance to meet the children whose education has been sponsored by our Each One, Teach One Project. The children had come along with their guardians and parents. As I saw the bright and eager faces of these children, I realized how little it takes to make a difference in these children's lives.

All of them expressed their gratitude to the generous sponsors. Among the 16 sponsored children (Prabina Acharya, Rama Nepal and Dipesh Nepal) could not come for a visit. But I assure their sponsors that an update on their progress will soon be posted. Here is a detailed report on each child's progress. more.....

After having been on several 6000 m peaks in the Andes, I had the urge to try something higher. The normal climbing season for the Himalaya and most climbs in the 7000-8000 m range is either the spring or the fall. Unfortunately for me as a university professor, this is also the same time that school is in session making it impossible to do an extended international trip at that time of the year. However, I decided to take a year off from teaching in 2004, and realizing that this was my opportunity (and maybe only chance) to get to the Himalaya, I started making plans for a 7000 m ascent. more.......
